John Gambling & Gabby Douglas - December 5th, 2012

WOR's John Gambling had the chance to speak with 16-year-old Olympian Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas this Wednesday morning. Miss Douglas' newest book, "Grace, Gold and Glory," shares about her journey to her success at the Olympics filled with heartache, determination and a strong faith.

"I wanted quit and work for Chic-Fil-A!" says a laughing Gabby about her intense pang of homesickness less than a year prior to the Olympic games.  Gabby had previously left her family in Virginia to train in Iowa with Coach Liang Chio, former coach of Gold Medalist Shawn Johnson in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She lived away from home with the Parton family and their four daughters in order to have the opportunity to work with such an accompished coach.

"God has blessed me throughout my career," she says of her faith that carried her through to the finish line. "If I was sick, or had an injury, I would rely on the scriptures."

So, what's next for this pint sized champion? "I am thinking about going to Rio 2016 -- I think it would be fun to attend another Olympic games," an Miss Douglas tells John Gambling. "If you just believe and trust in yourself 100 percent, and always have fun and love what you do, then you can achieve your goals."
