Jim DeMint Talks to Glenn About Health Care Reform

Glenn is heading to Charleston, South Carolina tomorrow, so what better way to start the trip than by chatting with Senator Jim DeMint, who will also be there this weekend with Glenn?

Glenn Beck on Glee!

Glenn Beck made a passing appearance on the Fox program "Glee" yesterday. Good thing a caller phoned in to let him know!

America Has Reached the Point of Singularity

The Senate unveiled their version of the health care plan today, weighing in at 2,074 pages. The leadership, it seems, still doesn't get it. We are not in a position to continue this outrageous spending, and explaining this simple, rational economic concept is probably the most frustration part of Glenn's job.

Healthcare bills passing in the night...
When does Congress work on the weekend? When they don't want the public to see what they are doing. This Saturday night at 8pm the Senate will vote to cut off debate on a motion to proceed to the healthcare reform bill. If 60 senators support the motion, the chamber would automatically adopt the motion to proceed to the bill and then depart. Some Senators are still on the fence. Who is being offered a $100 million bribe for their vote?

The ayes have it!
Congressman Murtha (D-PA) is consistently ranked as one of the most corrupt members of Congress. He avoided prosecution in 1980 in the ABCSAM scandal because he testified against others. Since then he's done nothing but waste hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayer money on things like the John Murtha airport, which has 3 planes leave everyday. Pat talks about his latest affront to the Constitution.

"Bush takes swipes at Obama"...really?
The Washington Times is reporting on a speech, given by George W. Bush, with the headline "Bush takes swipes at Obama."  They say this speech marks the first criticism of the new president by the old president.  But is it really?  I haven't seen the whole thing, but I would assume that the Times would [...]

Sure, they COULD be worrying about stopping swine flu
In the subway today, I saw a sign: "A crowded train is no excuse for an improper touch." Apparently, this happens often enough to warrant a professionally printed sign.  Good quality individuals on the subway.  I will ignore this information when I talk about the United States being the greatest country on earth.  Perhaps, I need to [...]

Pass the stimulus, and unemployment will never go above 8%
Outside of my obvious pro-Fox News bias, ABC’s Jake Tapper seems to be doing most of the heavy lifting for the entire profession of journalism these days (along with a couple of others.)  Yesterday he asked Robert Gibbs about a report that the Obama administration released in January—which showed what could happen to the unemployment rate if [...]

How does this happen? (multiple choice)
From the latest Fox News/Opinion Dynamics poll:1) 78% of people believe no one should pay more than 30% in taxes.2) 40% of people believe we should increase taxes on the wealthiest individuals so "nobody gets too rich" No matter how you cut it, there's a significant portion of people who agreed with both of these statements. How [...]

Marathon Miracle

In a previous blog, “A Runners Wife” I spoke about my husband training for the NYC marathon. All I have to say is that the months of training all came together of an amazing race. Race day is a grueling day for runners, and the family. But a miracle happened...

Pray for Us

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.

Great food matched with lovely wines

Here is a list of wines all from Spain, and menus from restaurants in Brooklyn where a crew of us  did a food / wine crawl through Carrol Gardens and Williamsburg recently
