The man accused of killing an EMT in the Bronx is due in court today.
Jose Gonzalez, 25, is facing two counts of first-degree murder and other charges after allegedly running over Yadira Arroyo last week. Police said he was joyriding on the back of the ambulance and then tried to steal the vehicle when Arroyo and her partner confronted him.
A vigil was held last night for Arroyo.
"Yari lived as a hero in this community, and she certainly died as a hero, and she will always be remembered in the New York City Fire Department as a hero of this department," Nigro said.
Gonzalez is being held without bail.
