Kelly and Baroni Get Jail Time In Bridgegate Trial

A Newark Federal Judge sentenced two former Chris Christie aides to jail today.

The governor's former top aide Bridget Anne Kelly will serve 18 months for her role in the Bridegate scandal and Bill Baroni will serve 2 years.

Both Kelly and Baroni will remain free on bail while their appeals are heard.

Judge Susan Wigenton said that Baroni actions were an "outrageous display of abuse of power."

Baroni and Kelly expressed remorse for their actions in the scandal.

The Bridegate scandal dates back to 2013 when several lanes of traffic were closed on the George Washington Bridge causing a huge traffic backup.

Bridgegate was said to be a political plot to punish Fort Lee NJ Mayor Mark Sokolich for his failure to back Gov. Christie's re-election bid.
