LI Knifepoint Robber, 2 Others Arrested

Police on Long Island have arrested three suspects in connection with 18 knifepoint robberies across Long Island.

Shane Cashmore, 30, and two accomplices were taken into custody after allegedly robbing a Carvel store in Huntington Station around 10 p.m. on Monday night.  Since February, there have been 10 similar robberies in Nassau County and 7 in Suffolk County.

"We have no doubt that Mr. Cashmore is responsible for these 18 robberies.  We are glad to bring this spree to an end," Suffolk County Police Commissioner Tim Sini said.

It's believed that the alleged robber was targeting stores in order to fuel a drug habit.

In the most recent incident before Monday night, the knifepoint robber struck in Lake Ronkonkoma at The Barn Convenience store.
