NY Assembly Holds Public Hearing on Amtrak

The New York State Assembly is holding a public hearing on Thursday about Amtrak’s plans to make improvements at Penn Station.

Amtrak officials have announced plans to fix and replace tracks, with work expected to impact the commute during the summer months.  The work could result in canceled and delayed service.

Commuters have faced a series of delays in recent weeks because of disabled trains, a derailment and signal problems.  During the Wednesday afternoon commute, dozens of Long Island Rail Road trains were canceled because of a signal problem.  It also resulted in delays for NJ Transit.

Thursday’s hearing by Assembly lawmakers will focus on how the upcoming repairs will impact commuters.
