Cuomo Heads to Washington To Talk Transportation

Governor Andrew Cuomo is headed to Washington D.C. on Wednesday to meet with Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao.

They’ll talk about the Gateway Tunnel project, which Cuomo said “may be the most important transportation project in the region.”  The tunnel would expand rail traffic under the Hudson River between New York and New Jersey.

“The Gateway Tunnel is critical for rail traffic entering New York and the entire Northeast.  It is essential that this project, which has been delayed for years, goes forward,” Cuomo said.

The governor will also brief the New York Delegation on the situation.
