Cuomo, De Blasio React to Convictions of Trump Associates

Mayor Bill de Blasio is predicting more shoes will drop, following a guilty plea by former Trump attorney Michael Cohen and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

“I don’t think we’ve seen a day like this since the end of the Nixon presidency.  A lot is going to change as a result of today.  A lot more dominoes are going to fall,” de Blasio said.

Manafort was convicted on 8 of 18 counts in a bank and tax fraud case in Virginia on Tuesday.  Less than an hour later, Cohen pleaded guilty to 8 counts, admitting that he paid off two women at the direction of then candidate Donald Trump for the purpose of influencing the election.

“We’re living in an even more powerful time than I think we realized and it’s going to test our democracy, but today’s results show the strength of our institutions and show that our democracy is working,” de Blasio said.

Governor Cuomo tweeted at President Trump, saying his personal attorney confessed to committing federal crimes at Trump’s direction.

“You maybe a slick salesman, but not even you can divert from that.  NY has had your number from the beginning, and now the rest of the world does too,” Cuomo tweeted.
