Funeral in NJ for Bride-to-Be Killed in Crash

A funeral is being held in New Jersey today for a bride-to-be who was killed in a car crash on the way to her wedding.

35-year-old Kathryn Schurtz and her fiancé Joseph Kearney were on I-78 headed to Pittsburgh when a tractor-trailer slammed into their car.  They were both killed.

Her obituary says Schurtz “will be remembered for her voracious appetite for reading, love of cooking, and trailblazing new adventures with Joseph.”

Schurtz grew up in Fanwood, New Jersey and graduated from Union Catholic High School in 2001.  She received a liberal arts degree from George Washington University and then got an MBA from Notre Dame.

Schurtz lived in Jersey City with her fiancé and worked as the head of platform partnerships for Oracle Data Cloud in New York City.

The funeral is being held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains.
