Two Bystanders Injured in Police-Involved Bronx Shooting

Two innocent bystanders have been injured after a shootout between police and a drug suspect in the Bronx.

Plainclothes officers approached the suspect on West 183rd Street and Loring Place on Wednesday night when the man came towards them and began firing.  Officers responded with gunfire of their own.

The suspect was struck and was taken into custody.  He was transported to Saint Barnabas Hospital.

A woman and 12-year-old girl were also hit by the gunfire.  They’re expected to be okay.
