New Jersey Expanding Paid Family Leave

Governor Murphy will sign an expansion of the paid family leave program in New Jersey on Tuesday.

Murphy called it a “huge win for working families and our economy.”

This doubles the amount of time someone can take off after childbirth or to care for a sick family member from 6 weeks to 12 weeks.It also increases the maximum weekly payments at $842.Previously, it was $637,

“No one should have to choose between earning a paycheck and spending time with a newborn child or caring for an ailing relative,” Murphy said on Twitter.
