A new poll from Siena College finds that New Yorkers like President Trump more than Mayor de Blasio.
While the president’s favorability rating is just 34 percent in the survey, the mayor’s is even worse at 29 percent. Trump’s unfavorable rating is also higher at 63 percent, compared to 53 percent for de Blasio.
The most liked New York politician according to the poll is Senator Chuck Schumer, whose favorable rating stands at 54 percent. Governor Andrew Cuomo is at 52 percent and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is at 44 percent.
If asked to choose, New Yorkers would take Gillibrand over de Blasio as the Democratic nominee for president.
“New York Democrats strongly prefer the hometown senator over the hometown mayor. Gillibrand would easily best de Blasio in every region of the state, including New York City, where she beats him 56-29 percent,” Siena pollster Steven Greenberg said.
