Security will be increased this weekend for the New York City Marathon.
Additional officers will be on the job to patrol the marathon route. There will also be blocker trucks and concrete blocks to keep the runners and spectators safe.
Police Commissioner James O’Neill said the NYPD is also relying on people to report anything suspicious.
“It’s not just that people should tell the police, I think people have an obligation to say something,” O’Neill said.
The NYPD had already stepped up security in the city this week following the killing of the ISIS leader in Syria.
