A rare proof copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's (Sorcerer's) Stone is for sale.
A proof copy of J.K. Rowling's first Harry Potter book is up for auction and believed to sell between $2,800 to $5,600. However, in the rare proof, J.K. Rowling's name is spelled wrong. The typo is J.A. Rowling instead of J.K. Rowling. Auction house Ewbank's said the copy of the book is one of only 200 trial copies to be printed before the official release of the novel in 1997. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, released in the United States as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and was the first book of the series.
The book will be auctioned on Thursday as part of the auctioneer's Entertainment, Memorabilia & Movie Props sale.
