The departure of a Delta Airlines flight had to be canceled at the last moment on Friday after another jet crossed into its path.
"Delta 1943, cancel takeoff clearance! Delta 1943, cancel takeoff clearance!" the air traffic controller is heard saying.
The plane was about ready to leave for Santo Domingo when an American Airlines flight leaving for London crossed onto the wrong runway. The Delta plane was able to come to a safe stop about 1,000 feet short of where the American flight was.
The American Airlines flight was able to leave a short time after the incident. The Delta flight was delayed until the following morning.
The FAA is investigating.
