New York City Councilman Joe Borelli appeared on 710 WOR’s Len Berman and Michel Riedel in the Morning program to raise his concerns about the amount of money the city is spending daily on migrants. “We are spending more than our Sanitation Department, plus our Parks Department, in one day on migrants than we are for those two departments, which provide critical services for New Yorkers,” Borelli told Berman and Riedel.

According to an article in the New York Daily News, New York City is now spending about $5 million a day to feed and house migrants—an average of $364 a day just on room and board, as mentioned by Emergency Management Commissioner Zach Iscol at a City Council hearing on Friday.

Borelli also touched upon last week’s re-election loss by Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot. Like Mayor Eric Adams, Borelli says this should be a wake-up call to progressive politicians. “With Lori Lightfoot, you saw… the out-of-touchness of a person who just refused to acknowledge that the majority of Chicagoans were very scared of crime in their daily life.”
