DeRosa: New Hampshire Means "The End of the Line" for Nikki Haley

The New Hampshire Primary takes place today, and the answer to the Republican Party’s number one pressing question should become much more in focus by day’s end: Can Donald Trump effectively end the debate right now and officially start his campaign for President, or can Nikki Haley stage a miraculous comeback and force everyone to get ready for the South Carolina Primary next month?

Democrats are eagerly watching the results, as well. One of them, strategist Melissa DeRosa, appeared on 710 WOR’s Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning program to offer her theories on what voters can expect from the campaigns after tonight.

“I think Trump puts it away today, and I think after today, she’ll be [trailing by] double digits,” DeRosa opined for Berman and Riedel. “I think there’s going to be no purpose left for Nikki Haley. I think this was her whole shot, was New Hampshire… Everyone else is gone, DeSantis, you know, with his pathetic dropout on Saturday and throwing his support behind [Trump,] I think today is the end of the line for the Republican primaries.”

For Trump, however, the line of potential running mates now forms behind Elise Stefanik, as some of the pundits see it. DeRosa, however, isn’t keen on seeing the upstate congresswoman being one heartbeat away from the Oval Office. “Ambition is very powerful for people, and I think that she decided that her path forward in the party was to sell her soul and get on the MAGA train, and, you know, she’s now the conductor, so here we are. A very interesting turnaround for her.”

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden is already running as the Democrat incumbent, and DeRosa feels his momentum is slowed by several factors, not least of which is his running mate, Kamala Harris. DeRosa feels Biden missed his chance to ditch her for a stronger ticket. “The only other option he has is to pretend she doesn’t exist, which I don’t think works. I think he’s got to try to use her strategically in some areas where she could be beneficial… she was on “The View” recently, she was out pushing the abortion message, so, you know, I think if they made the decision to keep her- which I’m not sure tactically was the right one- you gotta use her, or else, what was the point?”
