Bratton Says Lack of a System for Punishment Spurs Subway Crime

Len Berman and Michael Riedel spoke with former NYPD Commissioner, Bill Bratton about the crime issues plaguing the subways.

Bratton said, "The main problem in subway crime is there is no punishment system in place, fare beaters used to get arrested and issued a summons, now they are freed under what's called a supervised release, which is crap, because they are never supervised. As long as NYC officials and Albany refuse to put people in jail, so they are getting what they've asked for, a rise in crime.
